Overview

Simple Zen ("the App") is developed by LIPAI WANG. This policy covers the App on iOS and Android and explains what each version accesses and how it is used.

Data Collection

Simple Zen does not require an account and the developer does not operate a server that receives your focus history, reflections, or settings. The Android version includes Google Mobile Ads and Google Play Billing; those Google services process the data described below.

On-Device Data

The App stores the following data locally on your device using platform storage:

• App whitelist and usage preferences
• Screen time usage sessions and daily summaries
• Zen Garden progress (stones and milestones)
• Voice reflection entries and transcriptions
• Theme and display preferences

The App does not upload this local content to a developer server. It may be included in backups controlled by you and your platform provider.

Microphone & Speech Recognition

On iOS, the App uses Apple's speech framework for voice reflections. On Android, transcription uses the speech-recognition service configured on the device; depending on the device and provider, audio may be sent to that provider under its privacy terms. The developer does not receive the audio.

iOS Optional Features

The following features apply to the iOS version.

Photo Library

The App may request permission to save wallpaper images to your Photo Library. This is a write-only permission — the App cannot read or browse your existing photos.

Location

If you set up Location Profiles, the App uses your location to automatically switch focus settings when you arrive at or leave saved places. Location is processed entirely on your device to evaluate geofences and is never uploaded or shared. This permission is optional and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.

Contacts

If you use the Circle feature, the App requests access to Contacts so you can choose people to call or message. Contact information stays on your device and is never transmitted to the developer or any third party.

Calendar

If you enable calendar-aware focus, the App reads your calendar to detect Busy events and apply stronger focus limits during them. Event data is read on-device only and is never uploaded or shared.

Health

If you grant access, the App can write Mindful Minutes to Apple Health when you complete sessions, and read selected metrics to correlate with phone-usage patterns. All Health data is handled on-device through Apple's HealthKit framework and is never sent to the developer or any server.

Motion & Fitness

The optional exercise-based unlock uses motion sensors to detect reps on your device. Motion data is processed in real time on-device and is never stored remotely or shared.

NFC

The App can optionally start a focus session when you tap a physical NFC tag. NFC is used only to read your tag locally and involves no data collection.

Local Network (Focus Rooms)

Group focus sessions use your local network to connect directly with nearby participants over Apple's Bonjour service. Session coordination happens peer-to-peer; the developer operates no server and does not receive any of this data.

Android Usage Access

If you grant Android Usage Access, the App reads device usage statistics to provide local screen-time and limit features. The App does not upload those statistics to a developer server.

Advertising on Android

The iOS version does not contain an advertising SDK. The Android version displays ads through Google Mobile Ads. Google's SDK may automatically collect or share IP address for approximate location, app interactions, diagnostics, and device or account identifiers for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. See Google's Privacy Policy.

The Android version uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) for consent where required. When Google requires a persistent privacy-options entry point, open Settings and select Privacy choices to review or change the available advertising choices.

In-App Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store on iOS and by Google through Google Play on Android. The developer does not receive your payment-card details.

Children's Privacy

Simple Zen does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The App is suitable for all ages as it does not collect any personal information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App and on this page.
