Overview

Simple Zen ("the App") is developed by Lipai Wang. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and your rights.

Data Collection

Simple Zen does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with the developer, third parties, or external servers. All data stays on your device.

On-Device Data

The App stores the following data locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework:

• App whitelist and usage preferences
• Screen time usage sessions and daily summaries
• Zen Garden progress (stones and milestones)
• Voice reflection entries and transcriptions
• Theme and display preferences

This data is never uploaded, synced to a server, or shared with anyone.

Microphone & Speech Recognition

The App uses Apple's on-device speech recognition to transcribe voice reflections. Audio is processed entirely on your device using Apple's Speech framework. No audio recordings are sent to external servers. Microphone access requires your explicit permission and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.

Photo Library

The App may request permission to save wallpaper images to your Photo Library. This is a write-only permission — the App cannot read or browse your existing photos.

Location

If you set up Location Profiles, the App uses your location to automatically switch focus settings when you arrive at or leave saved places. Location is processed entirely on your device to evaluate geofences and is never uploaded or shared. This permission is optional and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.

Contacts

If you use the Circle feature, the App requests access to Contacts so you can choose people to call or message. Contact information stays on your device and is never transmitted to the developer or any third party.

Calendar

If you enable calendar-aware focus, the App reads your calendar to detect Busy events and apply stronger focus limits during them. Event data is read on-device only and is never uploaded or shared.

Health

If you grant access, the App can write Mindful Minutes to Apple Health when you complete sessions, and read selected metrics to correlate with phone-usage patterns. All Health data is handled on-device through Apple's HealthKit framework and is never sent to the developer or any server.

Motion & Fitness

The optional exercise-based unlock uses motion sensors to detect reps on your device. Motion data is processed in real time on-device and is never stored remotely or shared.

NFC

The App can optionally start a focus session when you tap a physical NFC tag. NFC is used only to read your tag locally and involves no data collection.

Local Network (Focus Rooms)

Group focus sessions use your local network to connect directly with nearby participants over Apple's Bonjour service. Session coordination happens peer-to-peer; the developer operates no server and does not receive any of this data.

Analytics & Tracking

Simple Zen does not use any analytics frameworks, advertising SDKs, or tracking technologies. There are no cookies, no device fingerprinting, and no usage telemetry sent to any server.

In-App Purchases

Premium features are unlocked via a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely through Apple's App Store. The developer does not have access to your payment information.

Children's Privacy

Simple Zen does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The App is suitable for all ages as it does not collect any personal information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App and on this page.
